While the annual growth of international
organic market in the world stays around 10% a year, in Brazil it is
expected for 2006 between 25% and 30% in the food and beverages sectors.
Supermarkets, home delivery and street fairs are among the main markets in
cities like São Paulo, Rio and Curitiba. Organic agriculture in Latin
America has been growing, specially in the export with products such as
coffee, bananas, sugar and soya beans. With 90 million hectares of area
available for agriculture, Brazil is indicated as one of the greatest
potential growers in the world, with the expectation that a good part of
this land is used for organic farming. |
